Alexis Cairns
WoodwindAlexis has a BA(Hons) in Jazz Studies from Leeds College of Music and an MA in Music Education: Instrumental and Vocal Teaching from the University of York. She has worked as a peripatetic woodwind tutor since 2007, teaching children and adults to play saxophone, clarinet, and flute both in schools and privately. She also prepares pupils for Grade 5 Music Theory exams. Alexis is currently studying for a PhD at the University of York, with research focusing on approaches to teaching jazz improvisation to beginner jazz pupils in the one-to-one lesson setting.
